PROPOLIS

Propolis is a sticky, brown resinous substance collected by honeybees from the leaf buds and bark of various trees and plants, fermented by bees secretions, mixed with wax and is used to sterilize their homes against infections, viruses and diseases as well as multi-purpose cement and varnish. It is a very complex mixture and its composition varies between hives, areas it came from even from season to season. It contains approximately 55% resins & balms, 30% wax, 10% etheric oils and 5% pollen. The main chemical classes found in propolis are flavonoids, phenolics and terpenes.
